Aims and Scope
Inspections, first published by M. Fagan in 1976, are an effective and efficient static quality assurance technique. Much research was performed in this field, basically on the inspection process and on reading techniques. Many published articles about experiments and experiences demonstrate the valuable effects of inspections.
As the demand for high software quality and short time for shipment grows, the need for early quality assurance in order to produce products of very high quality grows. Software inspections and related static analysis on artifacts can be one suitable solution. We identified the need for further investigations in the inspection field which we want to perform on an international basis.
The working group aimed to be a group of excellences in software inspections. Objective of this working group is to exchange knowledge on inspections among members. Knowledge includes ideas, practice and methods of software inspections and related activities. Furthermore, the working group collects and shares contexts information (possibly in anonymous form) where inspections have been introduced effectively as well as works worse than expected. The working group publishes knowledge and contexts in order to support industries, research communities and government.
